Friday, June 6th

We would like to congratulate the June Student Athletes of the month! Hope Smith, a member of the Women’s AAA Rugby team and Avery Fleischhauer, a member of the Juvenile Boys Track and Field team!

Hope has been an integral member of the Women's AAA rugby team. She has been a committed player and consistent contributor all season long, including in the gold medal game! She has excellent rugby IQ and reads the game very well. Hope does not shy away from contact and is eager to clear rucks and make big hits. She knows when to be vocal and is a lead by example type.  Hope is a strong ball carrier, as well as steals the ball from opponents at key points in the game. This included getting a turnover at a crucial point in the gold medal match! Her efforts earned her player of the game in the gold medal winning performance!

Avery has had a dominant track and field season. He attended every practice with enthusiasm and was an obvious leader within the Juvenile Boys team! He helped others identify events that they excelled in and encouraged them to train and practice until they believed in themselves. At regionals, Avery finished first in the 100-meter, 400-meter, 800-meter, 4x100 and 4x400. At provincials, he nearly duplicated this performance, getting four 1st place finishes, one 2nd place finish, as well as set two provincial records. He finished himself with 23 points, a total that is nearly unheard of, which helped lead his team to the provincial banner!

Would Hope Smith and Avery Fleischhauer please come to the office!
